A Digital Building Permit (DBP) is the outcome of the digitalization of the building permitting use case, reflecting the evolution from the traditional paper-based analogue process towards a digitalized model-based setting. This system allows public authorities to grant the authorization to execute urbanization works through digital processes and digital data, utilizing a changed or adapted workflow to take advantage of digital tools, digital information systems and digital-based processes and standards.
The process to digitalize a building permit must consider the local particularities of each building permit system and its inherent regulatory framework.
